Letters of George Hancock, 1800-1828.

In this collection of letters, Hancock declines to run for the Virginia General Assembly in 1800 and writes of his efforts to establish a turnpike in Virginia from the head of the Roanoke River to Montgomery Court House. Two of these letters may be from U.S. Representative George Hancock of Montgomery County, Va., and the later one from a son or other relative at Hancock's home Fotheringay, Montgomery County.
